On February 24th, the 15300 ton module roll on/roll off loading project undertaken by CNOOC Guangying was successfully completed. This is the first time that China has used SPMT to complete the roll on/roll off operation of 15000 ton modules, and it is also the roll on/roll off operation with the largest number of SPMT axes and the highest technical challenge for a single module in China.
The roll on module of the project has a length of 120.42m, a width of 77.72m, a height of 36m, and a total weight of 15300t. Our company uses a total of 500 axis SPMT and 20 PPUs to complete the roll on/roll off operation. At the beginning of settling in Jibao Shipyard and designing the project, the Zhonghai Guangying design team fully participated in the FEED design process, providing professional advice in the logistics field for the owner's design team from a technical and operational perspective. The designers, through argumentation, consulting expert opinions, and drawing on existing international cases, collaborated with the owner to finally finalize the overall construction module+SPMT roll on/roll off ship plan. It replaces the conservative plan of earlier segmented construction and later assembly, saving valuable construction time for the owner. How to mobilize 500 axis SPMTs and 20 PPUs in a short period of time has become a challenge for the Zhonghai Guangying team. At the beginning of determining the construction plan, the company's management was proactive: arranging a dedicated person to summarize the distribution of SPMT resources in domestic and surrounding countries, and synchronously combining operation and technical demonstration. After multiple discussions, a resource integration plan was formulated with "domestic+imported brand intermodal transportation" as the main focus and "single brand" as a supplement. The plan was laid out six months in advance to lock in axis resources for the smooth implementation of this project on schedule.
The project received attention and attention from the group leaders at the beginning of its establishment, and unified allocation of group equipment resources was made in advance to provide guarantees; Industry peers have provided strong support, and multiple companies have signed resource guarantee agreements with our company. In addition, our company has partnered with international industry giant Roll Group to pre allocate a batch of imported brand SPMT for the project to enter the domestic market, and has also locked in a considerable number of axes in the Southeast Asian region as backup response resources, providing dual insurance for the project's timely execution. The structural form of this transportation module is a double shell lattice connection, with a small effective support area at the bottom. After deducting the bottom area occupied by the sea support pier, the space left for SPMT lifting is limited, which limits the number of SPMT axis lines invested. This project adopts a roll on board method, with limited deck width, further limiting the deployment area of SPMT. Considering the joint use of the two brands of SPMT, it poses significant challenges for the SPMT vehicle configuration scheme and hydraulic grouping of this project. On the one hand, the design team cooperates with the owner to solve the challenges brought by various limiting factors, and on the other hand, actively learns from similar cases in the past to avoid risk factors. Synchronized, the design team maintained good communication with the operation team, repeatedly demonstrated the practicality of the design plan, and maximized the performance of each brand's equipment within the scope of safety permits, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and economy of the execution plan. In this project, the Zhonghai Guangying team planned and laid out in advance, worked steadily, actively overcame difficulties, and relied on the professional concept of service development and professional and solid technical operation strength to ensure the smooth implementation of this project. This project is the single module transportation project in China that uses the most SPMT axes, and it also sets a new record for the weight of SPMT roll on/roll off modules. Through this, Zhonghai Guangying has accumulated valuable experience and demonstrated excellent comprehensive strength, laying a solid foundation for the company's future in-depth participation in high-end marine engineering projects.
